Cookie Policy
Last updated: 20 October 2026
Summary
This page explains which cookies and similar technologies thecollective-magazine.com uses, what they are for, which companies provide them and how you can decide which ones you allow.
- Only what is strictly necessary for the website to work is active without your consent.
- Everything else stays switched off until you allow it.
- You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie Preferences link in the footer or in the mobile menu.
For how we handle personal data in general, please read our Privacy Policy.
Your choices
The cookie banner
When you first visit thecollective-magazine.com, a banner asks for your consent. It offers three options, shown with the same prominence:
- Accept all switches on all categories.
- Reject all keeps everything except Necessary switched off.
- Customize lets you choose category by category: Necessary (always on) and Analytics.
Until you make a choice, all optional categories are off.
How we remember your choice
Your choice is saved in your own browser, in its local storage (this is not a cookie), under the name `stc-consent`. It contains:
- a random identifier,
- the version of the consent settings,
- your choice for each category,
- the date of your choice.
This record stays on your device and is not sent to our servers. It is strictly necessary, because without it we could not respect your choice on your next visit.
We ask you again when these settings or this policy change in a way that requires a new version, and in any case after 6 months.
Changing or withdrawing your consent
You can change or withdraw your consent freely and at any time: open Cookie Preferences in the footer or in the mobile menu, adjust the categories and save. A withdrawal applies immediately.
Third-party providers
For trackers managed by third parties, you can also manage your preferences directly with the provider: through the opt-out link listed for that service below (where one exists), through the options described in the provider's privacy policy, or by contacting the provider.
Browser and device settings
Your browser lets you see which cookies and similar technologies have been set on your device, block them and delete them. Note that browser settings do not let you give or refuse consent by category.
Help pages for common browsers:
On mobile devices, some kinds of tracking used in apps can be limited in the device settings, for example in the advertising or tracking settings.
If you say no
Whether you allow trackers is entirely up to you. They help us offer a better experience and additional features for the purposes described on this page, so if you block them, some of those features may not be available to you.
Trackers by category
The category names below are the ones used in our cookie banner. The banner currently shows Necessary and Analytics. External media is also listed here because it is part of this policy, but this website does not currently use it (see below). For each third-party service we list the provider, where data is processed, which data is involved and, where known, the names and lifetimes of the cookies.
Necessary
Used for tasks that are strictly necessary to run the website and provide the service, for example remembering your cookie choice (`stc-consent`, described above). These are "technical" cookies and similar technologies. They are always active.
Analytics
Used to measure traffic and understand how visitors use the website, so that we can improve the service.

Google Analytics 4 is a web analytics service. With the data it collects, Google follows and analyses how this website is used, reports on that activity and shares the results with its other services. Google may also use the data to contextualise and personalise ads in its own advertising network.

- Provider: Google LLC
- Place of processing: United States
- Data processed: trackers, usage data
- Provider's privacy policy: business.safety.google/privacy
How cookies and trackers work
When you use this website, certain technologies can store or read information on your device (a cookie, for example) or use your device's resources (for example by running a script). On this page we call all of these technologies "trackers". We use the word "cookie" only when we mean that specific browser-based kind of tracker; cookies are found in web and mobile browsers, but not in mobile apps.
- First-party and third-party. Some trackers are managed by us ("first-party"). Others make it possible to use services of other companies ("third-party"). Unless stated otherwise, those companies can access the trackers they manage.
- Consent. Depending on the law that applies, some purposes require your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time (see "Your choices" above).
- Lifetime. How long a tracker remains on your device depends on what we or the provider have set. Some are deleted when you end your browsing session.
- More detail. Beyond what is listed for each category, the linked privacy policies of the providers give more precise and up-to-date information on lifetimes and on any other trackers they use. You can also ask us.
